Here's one from the "Gee, I never really thought about that" Thank you for contacting the World of Warcraft Game Master Department.
Petition: "I was looking at the Realm status and it occurred to me - if I have items in the Auction House and the Realm is down, does my auction timer get reset to allow the right amount of time for people to see my auction since it is technically un-biddable during maintenance or down time? I would not like to think I needed to pay AH fees twice for re-posting expired auctions that couldn't be bid."
Answer: Unfortunately time lapses normally for the Auction House even while a server is offline.
What this means is - If your realm is offline for maintenance Tuesday from 5 am till 11 am, and you posted a 24 hour auction Monday night at midnight, it will expire Tuesday at midnight, even though it has only been seen on the AH for 18 hours (24Hrs - 6Hrs). A Short Auction posted at 5 am would only be seen for 2 Hrs!!
Lesson - consider planned maintenance downtime when posting Very Long Auctions....
